BRRRRR! Winter will come early this year!

Written by: Scott Hetsko

Significant changes to our weather will begin just as we begin the final month of 2007. A huge blocking high pressure system will develop over the West Coast beginning Friday. This ridge will force milder air into Alaska and at the same time pour bitter cold air into Central and Eastern Canada. The airmass will modify a bit as it continues South into the United States this weekend. I expect temperatures to only reach the 20's for highs the first week of December. This brand of cold air will most definitely mean lake effect snow in the usual spots. There is also the threat of one or two areawide snowfalls from December 3rd through the 10th of the month. Don't expect any break in the cold snap to occur through at least the first two weeks of December. Unfortunately, this may mean a milder Christmas but I'm getting WAY to ahead of myself!
