Winter Storm Strikes On Sunday

Written by: Scott Hetsko

The regions first significant winter storm will begin as you sleep early Sunday morning. A period of snow will fall Sunday morning as warmer air tries to erode the cold air in place. Expect a few inches of snow before a mix of sleet and freezing develops during the afternoon. The cold air will be most stubborn in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier valleys where a prolonged period of icing is possible. Eventually the precipitation should go to all rain late Sunday night. Cold and lake enhanced snow may cause more problems by Monday evening but we're still a little too far away to be certain how much snow will fall. It should be a fun weekend, stay tuned!
