More Tropical Trouble
Written by: Brian Neudorff
Last week our weather intern, Chris Hoyt, wrote about tropical storm Fay and how it could be a "Landfalling Hurricane for Florida." Fay never became a hurricane but it tried and tried, even strengthened a little while it was over central Florida. Although Fay never made it to hurricane strength it has left its mark on Florida.
As of 11 PM EDT on Saturday the National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory on Fay when they downgraded it to a tropical depression, but it has left a lot of damage in its wake. Here are just a few of the storm-total rainfall amounts in Florida from Fay:
MELBOURNE BEACH 3.9 SSE 25.28
COCOA BEACH 24.38
CAPE CANAVERAL 22.83
DELTONA 22.69
SATELLITE BEACH 22.40
PALM SHORES 1.4 W 21.44
DELTONA 2.9 SE 20.94
MELBOURNE 7.0 NW 20.57

Fay still remains a threat as a tropical depression for the Gulf coast as it produces more flooding rain and a high risk of tornadoes.
If Fay wasn't enough there is more development taking place in the Caribbean. This area of low pressure could become a tropical depression later today or tonight and then potentially become Gustav. For more information on this possible development please visit the National Hurricane Center.
