NASA BOMBING THE MOON?
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
That headline grab you? It should! But it is true, sort of. Early this coming Friday evening, Nasa will be shooting a rocket into the south side of the moon. No this isn't a combat test, or the start of an intergalactic war. They're trying to find water below the surface of the moon.
Several experts suggest that over millions of years, the moon has sustained thousands of collisions with asteroids. The water that these asteroids contained could have been buried well below the surface of the moon, and then froze there. Why do we care about water on the moon? It has to do with future plans of a space station, or perhaps even habitation!
With the help of a telescope, some areas will see it. Unfortunately, the time of day and the weather pattern will not allow us to view it along most of the east coast. I'm sure that pictures will be popping up all over the web though. Stay tuned!
