COULD TONIGHT BE THE COLDEST OF WINTER?

Written By: Scott Hetsko
Arctic high pressure continues to squash and limit the lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario. Some towns will continue to see light snow tonight and early Saturday. 2-4" additional inches are possible in localized spots. More importantly weatherwise, bitter cold temperatures tonight as dry air and clear skies allow the mercury to plummet well below zero away from the lake by early Saturday.
The record low for Rochester Saturday morning is -12 in 1873. That number is safe but temperatures at the airport should get near or slightly below zero by 6 a.m. Protected valleys South will see numbers between -5 to -10 for overnight lows! Make sure to dress warmly and keep the pets inside for as long as possible.
