LAKE SNOW UPDATE

Northwest counties of New York have been added to the Lake Effect Snow warning area, including Genesee county. As of this writing at 11pm, band of lake effect snow looks like its picking up a little further east closer to the Monroe county/Rochester metro area.

Reports of decent snow in eastern Wayne county as well, but radar has been overshooting this activity.

By morning, amounts will total about 4-6" northwest of Rochester, 2-4" for most of Monroe county and areas further south will see less. Locally higher amounts are expected, especially in Orleans and Genesee counties.

I'll blog tomorrow morning to update thoughts about Sunday afternoon and evening. Any snow totals from your area would be great!

  4. Sodus Point - been snowing non-stop since 5:00pm Friday. We have anywhere from 8-18", tough to tell due to the inconsistent snow cover as a result of drifting and blowing. Drifts up to three feet in some spots. The snow just recently let up over the past hour, but picks up occasionally with another burst off the lake.
