ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID, NEVER A BRIDE
Once again, as been the trend all winter long, we are a bystander and not a participant in another winter storm. Like many before it this winter storm coming out of Ohio Valley will pass to our south. It will track through Pennsylvania and then northeast into New England.
We will see some light snow but I expect the amounts to be similar to what we saw with the last storm last week. The higher amounts will be located to the south along the New York, Pennsylvania border into the Southern Tier and over into the Finger Lakes. For these locations we are not expecting major snow just 2 to maybe 4 inches.
Back to the north, and you can see my current thinking in the map above, I see a coating to maybe 2 inches. I will tell you at this point I am leaning more to the lower amounts if past storms are any indication of what we might see.
As Bob said yesterday in his post, "It's sad when we're LOOKING for 2-4" as an 'event' around these parts." Once this system passes there will be scattered snow showers on Wednesday and possibly Thursday. Some places could get a couple of inches. Beyond that the rest of the week looks quiet and uneventful at this point. Temperatures will be more seasonal for this time of year near or in the low 30s and lows will be a little warmer returning to the low 20s.
The storm looks very very weak. It does not get strong until it hits New England. We will be luck to see an inch.
ReplyDeleteYou might as well cut and paste this forecast and apply it every week until April as the blocking pattern does not appear to break down anytime soon. As a winter weather lover, usually I feel sad this time of year that winter will be ending soon. Not this year. I can't wait for this miserable winter to end and for Spring to come. And right when we want Spring, I'll bet you almost ANYTHING that we will get a huge blizzard to smash the fresh green leaves and flowers of early Spring. My call is for the snowiest spring Rochester has ever seen coming up with snowfall accumulations well into May and flurries into early June as anamlous blocking and cross polar flow continue unabated.
ReplyDeletewhere the hell is all the snow? Don't get me wrong, i don't like snow, but where the hell is it? We used to get assloads every year and now it's like a piddling bit here and there. lol
ReplyDeletenow how is scott going to sit on his roof and be all nuts about the snow and cocoa and scare the neighbours?
