HURRICANE ALEX UPDATE

Written By: Mike DeNora

Tropical storm Alex has now officially become Hurricane Alex, as the winds have strengthened to 85 mph. As it continues to move over the warm water there is a great possibility that it will further strengthen. Alex is projected to hit north-east Mexico late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. With the amount of rotation from the storm, isolated tornadoes are possible in the region of the Texas coast. The biggest concern though, is that Alex is expected to bring heavy rain to South Texas. Estimates project around a foot of rain to accumulate in some areas. Precipitation should continue till Friday or even into Saturday from the hurricane. Winds, on the other hand, will die down rather quickly, potentially lowering the amount of damage to the region.
