HIGH WINDS SATURDAY

Deep low pressure just to our North will help funnel strong West-Southwest winds across Lake Erie on Saturday. The result will be wind which may gust between 50-60 mph at times in the afternoon and evening. Those who live in Western Monroe and points West will have the highest wind speeds due to their proximity to Lake Erie.
The lake "effects" us in many ways, tomorrow the winds crossing the lake won't slow much due to less friction over the water.
Sounds like I will be starting my leaf cleanup early next week once all my leaves blow off the trees this weekend. Hopefully my leaves will not be covered with snow late next week! Scott- is there any potential to see enough cold to get the lake snows going?
ReplyDeleteWhat is with the leaf colors this year. Many trees have not even changed yet and the ones that have are BLAH.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, After another very windy day today, the winds will settle during the day tomorrow quite a bit. It will still be brisk Tuesday, but the winds should really slacken during the day. There likely will be some lake effect developing Thursday & lingering right through Friday, but there should not be anything more than a bit of snow mixed in at times, especially across the high terrain. That's the way it looks now.
ReplyDeleteWeatherdan...There are some nice colors out there, but much less near the lake which is typically the case because of the warmer air off the lake keeping lake shore communities milder than the rest of us. If you are talking about the trees inland, I have seen some nice color, maybe a bit duller than in years past, which could be the result of amount of the wetter year we've experienced? I'm really not sure? As a whole, it has been a pretty average autumn thus far.
Have a great day!
