Heat Peaks Wednesday

Written by John DiPasquale:

Is it the last day of spring or winter today?? Despite what mother nature has been providing us, it is the last day of winter, as highs will range from the upper 60s to mid 70s today, but much cooler lakeside. A weak disturbance should also produce more cloud cover this afternoon with a few pop up showers & storms expected, & most widespread activity will likely be found south of the thruway today. Today's record high is 77, but that likely is safe, as highs this afternoon should fall a bit short, unless we get more sun than I'm expecting to see this afternoon. The disturbance will be weakening tonight & tomorrow nearby/overhead, & for that reason I have to keep the threat for a few widely scattered showers/storm in the forecast through Tuesday, but there should be plenty of dry time too. Highs on Tuesday with some sun, should make the mid 70s, which will be pretty close to the record of high of 79.

High pressure just off the east coast will flex it's muscles even more so for Wednesday leading to the warmest day of them all most likely. Highs Wednesday will likely shatter the current standing record of 72 set back in 1921! Right now we are forecasting low 80s, with 70s up on the big lake due to enough of a general southwest flow due to blow. Yes, we will be sweating for sure come Wednesday!

On Thursday, a cold front will come through with a few showers & storms probable. Temperatures will fall back into the 70 to 75 degree range for Thursday & probably not get out of the 50s to end the week. Still, though, we will be well above average despite the big cool down come Friday.

Have a great night & enjoy summer through Thursday everyone!
