Rare Sight in the Sky Early this Evening!

Written by John DiPasquale:

Something that may or may not be visible in your lifetime should be at least somewhat visible for us here in WNY this evening between about 6 until sunset this evening.  Venus will travel between the Earth & sun & it will show up as a black dot like the associated pic from 2004 when it last occurred.  The next time this will happen & be visible from Earth will not be until December 2117!  If you are going to attempt to view this make sure you have a telescope & special filter to filter out a lot of the sunlight so you don't damage the equipment, & more importantly your eyes trying to view this spectacle.  Enjoy!

The cool & damp weather we experienced Sunday & Monday is being replaced by brighter & milder conditions for the rest of the week.  Today, Tuesday, will be mainly dry with some sun & highs in the 65 to 70 range, while there's a slightly better chance (about 40%) of experiencing a shower/storm or two Wednesday & Thursday afternoon, but most of the day will be dry for all through Thursday.  Temperatures will climb back into the low 70s Wednesday, & low to mid 70s Thursday.

High pressure will keep us dry & make it sunnier for Friday, as highs climb well into the 70s with low humidity levels.  It should feel & look fantastic Friday!

The weekend will heat up into the low 80s probably on Saturday, & low to mid 80s Sunday with humidity levels creeping up a bit.  The chances of rain over the weekend look pretty low at this time, with just a slight risk Saturday with a warm front crossing the region.

A southwest wind should kick up early next week in advance of a cold front, which should send readings well into the 80s & low 90s for Monday & possibly Tuesday, but come Tuesday there could be some showers & storms developing.  So those of you that have pools or beach plans this weekend &/early next week, it's looking good right now!  Stay tuned.

  1. What does the rest of next week look like. Will it stay warm and dry?
