MAINLY WET & NOT WHITE TONIGHT & SATURDAY MORNING

Written by John DiPasquale:

After a chilly, uneventful Friday with some developing afternoon sun we will have a little clipper race through here late tonight into Saturday morning.  It looks like it's going to be mainly a rain producer, with just a little snow/mix possible at the onset late tonight & at the end of the event later Saturday morning.  Little, if any, accumulation will occur for most.  Temperatures will go from near 30 early tonight to the 40s late tonight & Saturday morning.  It will turn colder during the late morning & afternoon Saturday with increasing winds & a little sun sprinkled in there too.

A reinforcing shot of colder air will blow through Saturday night & result in a mid winter feel with limited lake snow showers to end the weekend & maybe even a little bit to start Monday.  Highs will only be between 20 & 25 Sunday with wind chills in the single digits!  Highs on Monday will likely only be around 20, despite some sun!  Then we will have to watch the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame closely, as a storm will be moving up the coast & intensifying rapidly.  At this time, it looks like most of the snow will miss us to the east, but it is still several days out so a lot can still change between now & then so stay tuned through the weekend for updates.  Regardless of what next week's storm does, we will stay unseasonably cold & brisk through at least next Wednesday, before some spring like changes appear to be in the offering late next week & beyond.

Have a great day & weekend bloggers!

  2. Oh, goody. A spring warmup. I'm so (not) excited.

    Now we will have:

    1. boom cars making noise
    2. neighbors you can't stand coming out again
    3. allergy season
    4. muddy dog prints all over the house
    5. muddy kid prints all over the house
    6. the weekend motorcycle warriors and their loud bikes - note: I do not hate real bikers
    7. chirpy weathermen on other channels jumping up and down about warm weather
    8. " " telling us all the stuff we should be doing: having a barbecue, going for a bike ride, blah blah
    9. annoying dogs in the neighborhood being left out
    10. street thugs now able to roam around at all hours

    Boy, I can hardly wait.

  5. I chose to take one cautious step into spring. This winter has been so unusual and persistent that I wouldn't rule out one last curveball before all is said and done. However, the light at the end of the tunnel is now in plain sight.

  6. I am still not throwing in the towel yet on the Mega strom next week.

    1. You think that we will still have this Mega Winter Storm next week? Local weather folks have not spoken about it much, and if that is the case -- they need to begin to seriously mention it vs. just a "passing comments or two". Last week that gave enough notice so that people could plan for Wednesday, and even rent hotel rooms as some did not want to travel the 3-4 hours it would have taken to get home in white out conditions. So are you just wishing or are you going by facts. Which is it?

  7. Anon let me make this clear. There will be NO STORM in WNY next week or the rest of the this past winter. WINTER is over spring is here towards the end of next week. Again ZERO PERCENT of a storm next week in WNY. Looks like no storm at all except maybe the fishes. This is why no local mets are saying anything.

    1. If you're gonna make predictions, then put your name on it. Otherwise such proclamations are worthless.

  8. Anon 5:39 stop being a jerk it is not a prediction it is a fact that this will not hit WNY with anything to worry about. Name on it or not so stop it!

    1. "it is a fact that this will not hit WNY"

      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fact
"something that actually exists; reality; truth"
"something known to exist or to have happened"
"a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true"
"something said to be true or supposed to have happened"

      "it is not a prediction"

      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/predict
"to declare or tell in advance; prophesy; foretell"
      "to foretell the future"

So facts imply past or present, prediction implies future. The time frame for any storm would be the middle of next week, which is the future. I hope you will take it upon yourself to use the correct terminology from now on.

"Name on it or not so stop it!"

      so much anger...

  11. Get ready Daniel Day Lewis because it will be 70 on April 1st and/or a few days after. Also it appears CCCC still thinks we are getting storm on Wednesday well it is a fact I say not.

I've never been completely sold on this storm, not once. I entertained the possibility for maybe a few days very early on, but that was about it. Go back through the past week's worth of comments.

"it will be 70 on April 1st and/or a few days after"

Not a single thing supports that happening. Quit trolling, or alternatively think of a better April Fools Day prank.

  12. Boy if this storm was 300 miles west we would be in for the Mother of all storms Wednesday. I am talking about a monster bigger than 93 if it was inland. I know we want winter out but boy you only get chances like that once in a lifetime. But oh well it was a good winter lets get to warm weather.

  13. Little disappointed that we are once again bystanders to a massive winter storm. Would have been nice to have one last blast of a winter storm. Still the cold and snow flurries will be a round for a bit longer -- perhaps a few more inches of snow we can get out of winter.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Perhaps with the way the winter has gone, we could get that "historic" ice storm that one of the bloggers keeps hinting or predicting. Who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Going to miss winter; not looking forward to Spring just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There will be a HIS storm within the next 3 weeks in the Flower City! Mark it down!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Winter still holding on; big snow flakes falling down.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Think about it: we could be in a place like Worcester which will be bystanders by about 50 miles instead of our 400. Still going to be a fascinating storm to track considering how strong it's going to get, and seeing how the Canadian Maritimes are going to get absolutely stomped.

Low 20s and fluffy snow on March 24th. Truly a stubborn winter.

  23. So wish we were not bystanders to the blizzard which is slated to hit New England today and Wednesday. We could have used another 12-18 inches of snow to ensure we broke some snow total records. Disappointing!!!

  33. Nice reminder that winter is still with us this morning. 1/4" of snow and with the snow and wind -- it was a little white out conditions. We might just hit that 110" mark for snow this year. Fingers crossed.

  36. CCCC, I've been looking at the models for the past few days now and they're all beginning to trend toward a colder and wetter solution... Still a ways out but we could get some decent snow out of this one. Trust me, I would love to see spring finally arrive, but realistically it might be a while.,,
